Our staff of apiculturists prepares the honey bee colonies early in the year to achieve peak population during the blooming period of the blueberries. Effective pollination requires robust colonies, and results in higher and better quality blueberry yields. The amber colored blueberry honey produced during the bloom has a rich and attractive flavor. Cranberries also benefit from honey bee pollination later in the season, but typically result in little nectar for honey production.

Following the cranberry pollination, our apiaries are transported to Northern Alberta to produce a crop of honey from clover and alfalfa fields. This also benefits the honey bee colonies by providing a source of pollen more abundant and nutritious than found in the Pitt Meadows area late in the summer months. The hives are then transported back to Pitt Meadows in the fall in a healthy and robust state to over winter on our farm.

The apiculture industry is challenging because of the skills, equipment, and labour required to achieve good success. Golden Eagle Apiaries benefits from the support and diversity of the staff of the Golden Eagle Group, and is positioned to thrive and provide leadership in the industry.
